A Credit Union is a democratic financial co-operative owned and controlled by it's members. All credit union members have something in common (the common bond) and every member, no matter how much their savings, has an equal vote in the running of their credit union. The philosophy of the credit union is “not for profit, not for charity but for service”.

The common Bond is that factor which unites every credit union member - it is what every member of a particular credit union has in common.

The most useful Common Bonds are:

* Community Bond - where all the members live, and in some cases work, in a particular locality. This is the Raheny & District Credit Union Common Bond. Check our Map and Street list and see if you're eligible to become a member.

* Occupational Bond - all members are of the same profession or occupation, or work for the same employer.

* Associational Bond - members are in the same society or association.

We are different because no one person or organisation owns the credit union. Instead every member has an equal say in the running of his credit union

We are a not for profit organisation and exist solely to benefit our members. Members' savings are used to build a common fund from which the whole credit union community benefits.
