Special Savings Incentive Accounts (SSIA) can only be opened

* Between 1st May 2001 and 30th April 2002
* By an existing member of Raheny Credit Union
* By a person who is 18 years of age or over
* By a person who is resident or ordinarily resident within the State for the duration of the SSIA
* Have a PPS Number ( PRSI)

 

The conditions for holding a SSIA


* A person can only hold one SSIA
* Joint SSIA are not permitted
* Subscriptions to SSIA's - person's own money (or spouse's money)
* Funding an SSIA through borrowing or by deferring existing borrowings is prohibited
* Minimum payment is €12.70 per month for the first 12 months and Maximum payment is €254 per month for first 12 months
* If less that the minimum payment of €12.70 per month is paid the SSIA will cease
* If more than the maximum payment of €254 per month is paid the SSIA will cease
* After first 12 months, no minimum payment required
* After first 12 months, the maximum payment is €254 per month
* Money in an SSIA cannot be held as security
* An SSIA will cease if a member withdraws all the money in the account or if any of the terms are broken
* The SSIA will mature 5 years from the date the first payment was made or on the death of the member
* If an SSIA is under or over paid it is in breach of the conditions and the account will cease.

 

Procedure for opening an SSIA Account A person must be:

* At least 18 years of age.
* Have a PPS Number (PRSI)
* Be resident or ordinarily resident in the State
* Complete Form SSIA 2
* Provide evidence of PPS Number through an 'Official Document' An 'Official Document' is
* Any document that records the name, address and PPS Number of the individual.
* Pay slip / Counterfoil * P60 / P45
* Social Services Card
* Any correspondence from the Revenue Commissioners
